Hicks update

May 28, 2008

We have felt impressed that we should move back to Michigan.  Charlie was the one who first felt the inspiration and we’ve been praying and pondering for a few months now.  We have decided to follow the Lord, even though we don’t really know why yet.  Charlie doesn’t have a job in Michigan yet, but is applying for them and we are hoping something will work out.  He will also start his masters program this fall, probably at Eastern Michigan.  We are going to stay in a friend’s house.  They moved to North Carolina and haven’t sold their house in Michigan yet.  We hope to be able to help them sell it while we are there.  This is an interesting time in ours lives, to be relying on such blind faith, but I know the Lord has a plan for us.  I just wish I knew a little more about that plan though.

Family prayers

May 28, 2008

Trish emailed me yesterday and told me that Brandee has broken her wrist and may need surgery.  Mary doesn’t have insurance yet because she just started a new job.  Trish asked me to pray for Brandee that she wouldn’t need to have surgery.  I just thought I’d pass the news along for the rest of the family to pray for as well.

Kurt’s wife, Heather, and her family have been going through some rough times with illnesses and deaths.  Would you keep her and her family in your prayers as well?  Thanks!  Love you guys!

Mother Teresa update

May 16, 2008

I guess I should answer this since I am one of her only children living in Ephraim that checks this blog.  My mom is doing okay.  The first week has hard because she was just tired and worn out.  This week she has gone back to work half days because of being tired but I think other than that she is doing good.  I will talk to her and see if she would feel up to getting on the blog and posting.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how Aunt Terrie is doing since her surgery.

Update

May 1, 2008

Hello family! So, since Amy doesn’t have internet and my dad’s so busy all the time, I guess it falls to me to keep the family updated on our status. As you probably all know, Amy had a baby on March 25 at exactly 1 am. Labor only lasted four and a half hours! Amy did great once she got the epidural :)  I attached a picture…she is the cutest little girl and therefore provides innumerable photo opportunities! But I limited myself to only one picture. They named her Mylie Nicole (name was chosen before Miley Cyrus was popular), which made me feel so cool. I’ve never had a baby named after me before :)  The baby blessing is on June 8. Sacrament meeting begins at 10:50 am. Call my dad if you want to know how to get there.

So I’m still up in Rexburg, just working full time until Bryson finishes school next April. After that we’re hoping he gets an internship with the Church in SLC and I can finally move back to Utah! He’s going into computer programming, same as my dad (which is kinda creepy), but I didn’t know that until after we started dating. It’s a pretty good field right now so I don’t mind too much. It’s just really ironic. Currently, I work for an organization called Orphanage Support Services. We are a non-profit organization that sends volunteers to Ecuador to work in orphanages. It’s a pretty good job–not high paying because it’s non-profit, but a good job even still. And for those who are wondering (because everyone always seems to be) we are notplanning on having kids until Bryson graduates and I get some health insurance…

As for my dad, as I mentioned, he’s pretty busy because he’s currently working two jobs. He works at one job four days a week for ten hours, which leaves him Fridays to work at his other job. He still manages to find time to see his cute granddaughter quite often, though. His Mazda just died, even though it’s only eight or nine years old, so he had to buy a new car–a silver Corolla, just like his favorite married daughter (that would be me).

So I guess that’s all for now. I’m not sure whether I’m actually going to post very often since life doesn’t seem to change much in my neck of the woods. Just thought everyone may enjoy an update.
