Grandma’s Surgery

October 31, 2009

I’m sure most of you know that Grandma went in for surgery Wednesday due to a blockage in her intestine.  According to the emails I’ve been getting from my dad, she wasn’t keeping anything down and was severly dehydrated when Trish took her to the hospital.  They tried various things, but she still wasn’t getting any better so they took her in for surgery.  The surgery went great and they cleared the blockage and now she’s in the hospital under their watchful eyes.  My dad said that she might have to be there for up to a week-geez, Grandma’s going to love that.  Anyway, the information we have is limited and if anyone else knows more than that, or has a recent update of how she’s doing, that would be most appreciated.  Thanks!

Brandee

September 25, 2009

Just in case any of you didn’t get the message from Karen, Brandee Patterson is getting married this coming Tuesday (29th).  I don’t know where or to whom.  All right, so I don’t really have any details at all… If anybody else knows something more please post it!

I’m sure many of you already know the details, but I thought I’d update you on our baby. Sarah already put on here that we’re pregnant but that was all she knew, so here’s the rest of it. We’re due January 18, which is perfect because it’s right after my mom moves back from England for good. And we found out the first part of August that we’re having a boy. We didn’t have a preference either way on gender, so we’re way excited that it’s a boy. This will be the fifth grandson on my mom’s side (my step-dad’s two daughters have four boys between them), so he completes our basketball team :)

However, Bryson and I are having some troubles picking a name. The middle name is going to be Grant. If any of you have some good suggestions for first names, we’re open. Preferably no obscure scriptural names–Trish suggested that we name him Jedidiah so that we can call him Jedi for short. Hmmm…probably not. Any other ideas?

Time for March Birthdays!

March 3, 2009

I am trying to be on top of things this month so I thought I would hurry and get this posted before anyone had a birthday! I noticed that there were quite a few February birthdays (as Shirley pointed out) and there are also a lot coming in April but we don’t have a lot of March birthdays. Just something odd that I noticed, anyway… Happy Birthday to Rick on the 12th, Jimmy on the 16th, Eric (Kari’s husband) on the 19th, and Mylie (Amy’s baby) on the 25th! I also noticed that we have a couple of wedding anniversaries this month so congratulations to Kim (Courreges) and Mike on the 31st and also to Bill and Shirley who have been married 32 years (if I counted right) on the 4th! Happy celebrating to everyone!

February 17, 2009

Hello family! I haven’t written in a while, nor have I seen most of you in ages, so I thought I’d just say hi. We’re still up in Rexburg. Bryson’s graduating in April, though, so we’ll be moving out of here April 10. Yay! Not that I’m anxious :) Well ok, I am. Five years is long enough to be here. We’re not sure yet where we’re going, but it’s hopefully going to be somewhere in Utah. Salt Lake and Provo are apparently HUGE for Computer Science so we’re thinking that’s our best bet. He doesn’t have a job yet but we’re really hoping he’ll find one soon. It’s kind of a scary place to be in the meantime. We know we’re moving out in less than two months, but we don’t know where we’re going.

Then, four days after he graduates, we’re heading to the Czech Republic as Bryson’s graduation gift. That’s where he served his mission so I’m taking him back. It’s a lot of money for two recently graduated college students who as of right now don’t have a job, but we’ve been saving pretty much since we got married, so I think it will be ok. I’m very excited. Not only do I get to visit the most beautiful city in the world (Prague), I get to see all these sites that Bryson’s been telling me about for three years. We’re staying for two weeks, which isn’t nearly enough time to see everything we want to, but we’ll still have a great time.

Oh yeah, so the place I work is a non-profit organization that sends volunteers to Ecuador to take care of orphans for ten weeks. We’re really struggling right now with the shoddy economy, so if anyone knows anyone over the age of 18 who you think would be really great at that, please send them to our website: www.orphanagesupport.org. We could really use the help. We’re a great program!

So anyway, that’s my status. Like I said, I just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. Hope everything’s going well for everyone else too!

Happy February Birthdays!

February 17, 2009

I know there are a ton and I know the month is half over, but being pregnant I am a little airheaded these days. So, Happy Birthday to Hillary on the 6th, Kyle on the 20th, Phillip on the 28th, and Charlie but I don’t know what day. Also, I know that some of the Hick’s children have February birthdays but I don’t know for sure which ones and what days. If anyone has a list of birthdays for theis entire family I would love to have it emailed to me. Anyway, Happy Birthday to anyone who has one this month and if I don’t have you on here then let me know when your birthday is!

Deena’s Baby!

February 14, 2009

I’m not sure when or if Deena will have time to post the info and some pictures of her new baby so I thought I would post what I have. Hopefully she won’t mind!

Deena and Jeff welcomed their baby boy on Wednesday the 11th more than two weeks early (lucky girl). He was 6 lbs 4 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. They are naming him Cooper but I don’t know if they have decided on a middle name yet.   Here are the two pictures I got, hopefully when Deena has time she will be able to post some more info (and cute pictures), but I would imagine she will be pretty busy for awhile!

I didn’t know if everyone got this email from Mary so I thought I would post it on here for any who didn’t.
Ms. Brandee is doing quite well at advanced training though they are working her long hours. Good for her! She loves hearing her name at mail call. Please forward this to your children. She will appreciate hearing from any and all.

Boy or Girl??

January 26, 2009

It’s a GIRL!! Congrats to those of you who figured out the ultrasound. The doctor said it is definitely a girl.  Not only did she say there was definitely no boy parts, she could actually pick out the girl parts. So there you have it, we are having a girl. Not a lacey, ruffled, pink wearing girl mind you, but a get down in the dirt and wrestle with the boys kind of girl. Just wanted you all to be prepared in advance so when you see in her jeans and a tshirt you won’t be surprised. Don’t expect her to be in dresses/skirts or have giant bows in her hair because as most of you know, that is totally not me.  Jake has assured me that girly-girls aren’t born that way, they are made that way so I am keeping my fingers crossed it never happens! Now all I have to worry about is agreeing with Jake on a name…
